Sunken into a street-side site this four-bedroom family house maintains a low profile, in keeping with the rhythm of the street. Ed Carter worked on the development side of this project, with vPPR as architects.

The entrance to the house is at street level. Double-height voids link the upper and lower floors. A large open-plan living room on the upper floor is topped with generous vaulted roofs. This room is dual aspect, with a large clerestory that runs along the main façade and two sunken courtyards with full-height glazing to the back. Large sliding doors with Juliet balconies open up to the courtyards below.
Bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the lower ground floor with direct access to the courtyards. The generous double height entrance area can be used as a second sitting room or playroom.
